DevOps Intern – Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and basic management of tools used in software development, such as build servers, version control systems, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining cloud infrastructure and services on platforms like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Work with the development and operations teams to help troubleshoot and resolve basic infrastructure or deployment issues.
  • Learn and contribute to scripting and automation tasks using Python, Bash, or Shell to improve efficiency in deployment and operations.
  • Support the team in maintaining security protocols, monitoring access controls, and addressing vulnerabilities under supervision.
  • Help monitor system performance and participate in efforts to improve stability and efficiency.
  • Stay curious and keep up to date with the latest DevOps trends, practices, and tools, applying new knowledge under guidance.
  • Learn and assist in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and delivery.
  • Collaborate with global teams, providing support for operations and resolving issues during working hours.

Skills and Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure (coursework, personal projects, or certifications preferred).
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Exposure to scripting in Python, Bash, or Shell.
  • Interest in understanding the software development lifecycle and DevOps practices like CI/CD.
  • Strong eagerness to learn, with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Basic awareness of networking concepts and troubleshooting approaches.
  • Familiarity (academic or self-learned) with automation and orchestration tools like Jenkins, Ansible, or similar is a plus.
  • Optional: Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or AWS Cloud Practitioner.
  • Interest in database concepts and willingness to learn basic maintenance/optimization tasks.
  • Enthusiastic about continuous learning and building technical expertise in DevOps.
  • Awareness of basic cybersecurity principles is an advantage.
